About slip.

slip. began as a way to buy all the vintage treasures I was finding, because I am selfish and couldn't bear to leave them behind. It took a long time for me to realize this as a business, I kept in the back of my mind the idea that I was just building my wardrobe, and that if this "whole thing" didn't pan out, I'd just wear everything I found.

Traverse City has been my residence on and off for years, and my home always. It has always been an artistic and inspiring place, full of creative people. I realized shortly after starting slip. that there is a need for not just a vintage clothing store, but a modern take on that. A place to mix eras, learn history, and maybe become a part of a community of like-minded people who care about not only fashion, but the environment too. Taking on the endless consumer culture of fast fashion, slip. aims to sell unique clothing, and educate about the vast topic of vintage clothing as well.

I attended the Illinois Institute of Art- Chicago for fashion design, and have been passionate about clothing and textile for as long as I can remember. Designer was always the goal, until I started learning about the global and environmental impact of the industry. Making a conscious effort to reuse and recycle instead of creating or buying something new has been the focus in dressing myself for years, and the hope is to provide a space for others to do the same.

I feel forever grateful that this is my job, and I am so glad you are here. Thank you.
